Dealing and Overcoming Low MotivationAug 11, 2021
Low motivation. We’ve all been there before. Whether in our work life, personal life, fitness journey, or any other part of our lives, we’ve all had times when we just can’t seem to get motivated to go through with our plans or goals. When feeling low motivation, sometimes it can be hard to crawl out of it and get back to where you once were. It’s easy to then feel discouraged as you may think that you’ve lost all your progress. But that’s not always the case. Going through low motivation is just part of life. To get through it we have to go through and it will ultimately bring us strength on the other side.
Here are some of my tips for dealing and overcoming low motivation:
Let it happen
Low motivation can happen at any time. When you’re stressed and overworked, you may keep trying to push through and push through and work your body and mind to the max. But sometimes that may not always be the best thing. I’m all for pushing yourself to be great, but there are moments when it is okay to give in to what your mind and soul are telling you. Let yourself feel the low motivation and then try to figure out how to get out of it.
Re-evaluate your goals
After allowing yourself to go through that period of low motivation, it is important to re-evaluate your goals. Maybe things in your life have shifted and the goals you were working towards don’t really align with your current situation. Altering your goals to fit with your life is the way to go. Make new goals and make a plan on how you can move forward through this time of low motivation and get back to yourself.
When feeling beat down and going through the motions of low motivation, when you think you can’t do it anymore or want to give up, try again. When you keep trying to get out of that rut, one day maybe you’ll feel more motivated and the next, maybe you won’t. That is okay! You will slowly get that motivation back one step at a time. We have all felt the ups and downs over the last year and the most important thing is to keep trying.
Remember that wherever you are in life, it is okay to feel down, it is okay to need help or a shoulder to lean on. Going through low motivation can be hard. But you are strong and will get through it!
